R. James Madigan III

As Vice President, Legal and Data Privacy, Jeb directs Smile Train’s legal department, providing advice and managing risk across the organization on matters ranging from employment and fundraising to programs and grants.  Around the globe, Jeb helps Smile Train navigate data privacy laws and regulations, manage its contract and IP portfolios, and design and implement its policies, procedures, and contract management system. 

Prior to joining Smile Train, Jeb practiced at the law firm of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, advising and representing organizations on complex commercial matters in the life sciences.  While at the firm, he also coached high school mock trial and moot court and was recognized by The Legal Aid Society for his pro bono practice.  Before that, Jeb served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gary L. Sharpe on the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.

Jeb holds a JD from Cornell Law School, where he was editor of the Cornell Law Review, and a BA in Art and English from Lafayette College.
