Smile Train Wins Prestigious PRNEWS Platinum Award for Non-Profit Communications Team of the Year

New York, N.Y., October 17, 2024 – The Communications Team at Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, was named “Non-Profit Communications Team of the Year” at last week’s PRNEWS Platinum Awards Gala, an event that marks excellence in communications across people, teams, and campaigns.
“Our communications team is filled with passionate, dedicated, and determined people who are committed to raising widespread awareness about clefts that lead to meaningful action. We endeavor to inspire, motivate, and effect change to ensure that every child with a cleft has access to the care needed to live a full and happy life,” said Phil Carroll, Smile Train’s Senior Vice President of Communications. “Our thanks to everyone at PRNEWS for recognizing the hard work and talent of this incredible team.”
The PRNEWS Platinum Awards have been hailed for the last two decades as the most coveted and competitive award in the communications space. The awards recognize organizations that have made significant contributions to their fields and the communities they serve.
The team was recognized for several high-profile efforts in the last year, including the execution and promotion of Smile Train’s 25th anniversary gala in New York, their achievement of a Guinness World Records title with corporate partner Dentsply Sirona, and the production of a short film with BBC StoryWorks about Smile Train’s joint initiative with Scottish-based charity Kids Operating Room to build solar-powered operating theaters across Africa, among other honors.
