What Makes You Smile? Celebrate World Smile Day

Join Smile Train for World Smile Day®. Build a Smile Wall, spread kindness, and help change lives — one smile and one sticky note at a time.

Smile Wall inside a school

Friday, October 3 is World Smile Day® — an annual celebration of kindness and the power of a smile to bring people together. This year, Smile Train and supporters like you are making the day extra special by creating Smile Walls around the world.

What Is a Smile Wall?

A Smile Wall is a colorful display where people can answer one simple question: “What makes you smile?” Using sticky notes, they share uplifting messages, personal stories, and little moments of happiness.

You can set up a Smile Wall anywhere — your school, church, workplace, local hospital, or community center. Each wall will not only brighten someone’s day, but also spread awareness about cleft lips and palates, a serious birth difference affecting one in every 700 babies worldwide.

How to Participate

The campaign begins Thursday, September 25 and runs all week through World Smile Day® on Friday, October 3.

  • Build your Smile Wall using colorful sticky notes, markers, and a display board.
  • Invite your community to share what makes them smile.
  • Spread the word online using photos, the #SmileWall hashtag on social media, and stories to inspire others and raise awareness for Smile Train.

Why It Matters

Every smile shared brings us closer to a world where every child can smile confidently. By joining World Smile Day® activities, you help generate awareness and funding for life-changing cleft surgeries and empower communities by strengthening local healthcare access and expertise.

Together, we’ll change the world — one smile and one sticky note at a time.
