Five years ago, New York City resident Ida Palma was compelled to send in her very first donation to Smile Train. Driven by her strong belief that every child deserves the basic right to smile, she has become a dedicated #SmileMaker — changing the lives of 18 children by providing them with 100%-free cleft repair surgeries and volunteering at Smile Train events.
Ida shared her story in the video below, urging current and potential Smile Train supporters to #GiveSmiles this holiday season:
Before you buy something that maybe you don't really need, think... ‘Would that change a life forever?’ Make the decision, which do you think is more valuable? — Ida
Adina Lescher, Smile Train, Director, Community Fundraising commented, “Thanks to Ida’s continued support, children in the developing world who previously lived with untreated clefts now have a lot to smile about during the holidays and for years to come. We wouldn’t be able to provide a new smile to a child every 5 minutes if it weren’t for Ida and Smile Train supporters just like her.”
Join Ida in giving new smiles and second chances at life this holiday season, with a donation today. If you’d like to learn more about ways to help children with untreated clefts, including volunteering at Smile Train events, please visit the Get Involved section of our website.
