Crashing star Pete Holmes and producer Judd Apatow were recently planning a live comedy event, “A Night of Crashing,” to promote the upcoming third season of the HBO show. When the Crashing producers were brainstorming a nonprofit organization to support with the event’s ticket sales, Young Leadership Circle member Brenda Sarai Zuniga pitched Smile Train, and everyone agreed that a comedy show to bring smiles to children around the world was a great fit.

The lineup for the Smile Train benefit show included Crashing guest stars (and some of stand-up’s biggest names) John Mulaney, Sarah Silverman, and Pete Davidson.

After the tickets sales were counted and the last joke was told, the evening raised $7,000 for Smile Train. Smile Train’s CEO Susannah Schaefer said of the event, “Thank you Brenda, Pete, Judd, HBO, Largo at the Coronet, and everyone who made this evening a reality. Your special ability to bring smiles to people’s faces is powerful, and using them for our organization is so appreciated.”
