Saúde Criança Repensar is the cleft lip and palate center within Hospital Municipal Nossa Senhora Do Loreto, a hospital that has been committed to the well-being of the community since 1952.
Due to the overwhelming poverty in the area, many families lack the resources and knowledge to provide post-operative care to patients after cleft surgery.
To support families throughout this process, Saúde Criança Repensar refers patients to the Child Health project. Child Health’s multidisciplinary team works with the families to prepare a personalized action plan for each patient.
These action plans focus on supporting the patient in five areas: health, professional training, housing, education and citizenship. These plans span an average period of two years, until the patient has completed all treatments and follow-up care.
