Lucy Hale is an American actress, singer, and devoted Smile Maker. In her first year of supporting Smile Train, Lucy has helped to provide more than 380 new smiles for children born with cleft lips and palates in the developing world.
Lucy’s Smile Train Journey started by sharing Smile Train posts with her loyal social media followers last holiday season, and, soon-after, she started raising smiles.
In May of 2016, she teamed up with her Pretty Little Liars co-star, Ian Harding, to create a limited edition line of exclusive merchandise with portions of the proceeds going to Smile Train. In only two weeks, the sales helped provide 120 new smiles.
In June 2016, Lucy graciously decided to forego birthday gifts and asked her friends and family to donate to Smile Train instead.

In September of 2016, Lucy went to Mexico to visit with local in-country Smile Train partners and patients – she even was able to see a cleft surgery firsthand. “Seeing the surgery, was the highlight of my trip. The surgeon let me stand behind his shoulder and watch – he explained everything that he was doing step-by-step. It was incredible to see this little boy’s face change over the course of 45 minutes,” she said.
