Smile Train in Mexico
Smile Train established its first hospital partnership in Mexico in 2002. Since then, our local medical partners there have provided 28,000+ free, high-quality cleft surgeries. We have partnered with 330+ surgeons and other medical professions to provide Smile Train supported care at 175+ hospitals.
Partner Hospital Visits
Smile Train’s medical partners around the world provide free, safe, and quality cleft care for people in need. During a Journey of Smiles, participants visit local partner hospitals, meet with members of the cleft team, and encounter the lifesaving work their donations make possible.
Patient Home Visit
When a child receives cleft surgery, the benefits ripple across their entire community. Participants on this Journey of Smiles will have the opportunity to visit the homes of two Smile Train patients and their families, where they will hear, in their own words, the impact Smile Train has had on their lives.
Itinerary
- Saturday, April 11: Arrive in Chiapas at Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport (TGZ). Transfer to San Cristóbal de las Casas, check into Hotel Ciudad Real, and enjoy a group welcome dinner.
- Sunday, April 12: Visit two patients and their families at home in the morning, followed by an afternoon tour of San Juan Chamula.
- Monday, April 13: Tour Smile Train partner hospital Tseinan, visit their comprehensive cleft care programs and meet with patients and medical professionals, then visit Cañón del Sumidero in the afternoon. Close the day with a farewell dinner.
- Tuesday, April 14: Departures or optional trip extensions.
