Smile Train Celebrates World Smile Day

World Smile Day(r)

New York, NY — The world over, the Smile Train family is celebrating World Smile Day® and all that it means to smile. Every year, more than 170,000 babies are born with clefts in developing countries and their families are too poor to pay for the corrective surgery that can give them a new smile. Thanks to our amazing supporters and partner hospitals, Smile Train is able to provide these children with free cleft surgery.

Watch our Celebration in Times Square

Every day, Smile Train provides more than 300 free cleft surgeries, and for that we have plenty to celebrate this World Smile Day®. Our partners will be celebrating with our patients throughout the world, and we'll be celebrating in Times Square.

The day will start with Smile Train ringing the opening bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, be sure to watch the video. From there the celebration will move to Famous Famiglia Pizzeria at 50th and Broadway where Christie Brinkley will host our mini-carnival featuring students from M.S. 180 in the Bronx, free pizza from Famous Famiglia, three photo booths, drummers, face painting and all sorts of great things to make you smile.

The best part is, for every smiling picture uploaded to Smile Train's facebook page or to your Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr account tagged #SmileTrainWSD, Famous Famiglia will donate $10*. This generous contribution will be used to give desperate children with clefts new smiles and new lives.

You can find out more about our celebrations on our World Smile Day® page. Be sure to check out our All It Takes Is A Smile Pinterest Board to see the smiles uploaded so far.
