Turning Miles into Smiles is a fundraising program I am using to increase awareness of The Smile Train.
In 2008 I raised over $23,500 as I trained for the Ford Ironman Triathlon in Louisville, Kentucky.
The races
In 2008 my goal was to complete my first Ironman Triathlon (a 2.4mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2mile run).
In 2009 I'll be running marathons (26.2miles) and ultramarathons (anything longer than 26.2miles) to strengthen my running.
Hopefully in 2010 I'll be able to complete yet another Ironman Triathlon.
The Smile Train Triathlon
As part of my fundraising, I organized a local sprint distance triathlon in Wake Forest, NC. In its first year we had over 325 athletes, over $10,000 in sponsor dollars, and donated over $15,000 to The Smile Train.
This race will be back in 2009.

The average cost of surgery for these children is as little as $250. Every dollar you raise will go to help poor children. We can say this because 100% of all administrative costs are paid for by our board of directors, 0% of your donation will go to overhead expenses.
Please feel free to contact me at jpark@smiletrain.org or 877-KIDSMILE if you have any questions or need any promotional materials.
We deeply appreciate your support of The Smile Train.
Working together, we can make a difference in the future of children who need a second chance at life. Working together, we can empower communities and change the world...one smile at a time.
