Executive Summary

“I am based in Jakarta and have been with Smile Train for almost five years now. We started with four partners and now we have 61 active partners. We are close to 25,000 surgeries since inception of Smile Train Indonesia. Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world, in terms of population, after India, China, and the US. The country has 33 provinces and we have 18 provinces with our active partners. The rest still remains a challenge.

"We face three challenges in Indonesia. One, human resources in terms of the number of surgeons. The second is geographical and the third one is to bring the patient to the nearest partner. That’s why our own partners do in-country missions in Indonesia to reach the farther corners and islands where children are suffering.

“Five years in Smile Train is more meaningful to me than my previous career. I’m happy and so proud to be a part of this humanitarian mission with Smile Train. We can do this because of our donors. And for that, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to say thank you very much to the donors and keep supporting Smile Train. We will give in return thousands more smiles.”
