Susannah joined the management team of Smile Train in February 2013, after being a member of the Smile Train Board of Directors since 2003. She oversees the charity’s mission and day-to-day operations after almost twenty years in operational roles, bringing a vast network and experiences to the team.
Satish joined Smile Train in 2000 and is currently the Chief Programs Officer, overseeing all aspects of program development and implementation. Prior to taking on this position in 2011, Satish spent 11 years as Smile Train’s Regional Director for South Asia. Under his leadership, Smile Train’s programs grew to more than 160 partner hospitals in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, performing over 300,000 free cleft reconstructive surgeries on children in South Asia who would otherwise never have been able to afford them.
Bob joined Smile Train in 2011 as Chief Operating Officer, after nearly 20 years at Computer Associates in senior management positions in operations, business development, and general management in the United States and internationally. While at Computer Associates, he was responsible for developing and implementing sales programs that generated revenues with a market value in excess of US $1 billion.
On September 1, 2006, Dr. Shell Xue joined Smile Train as Chief Project Officer for China. She has used her coaching, resources development, and leadership skills to grow Smile Train’s partner hospitals from 143 to 397 in China. Smile Train’s cleft repair surgeries in China now average 30,000 children annually, 120 per working day, and a total of over 220,000 free cleft lip and or palate reconstructive surgeries have been provided in China over the past 11 years.
Mohamed joined Smile Train in 2012 after more than 22 years in different sales, marketing and general management functions. He has worked on numerous projects throughout the Middle East region where he gained extensive experience with global multinational companies, namely Roche Consumer Health.
Dr. Githinji joined Smile Train as Regional Director for East Africa in March of 2008, after spending more than 10 years in the medical, pharmaceutical and media industries. In 2010, he was promoted to Regional Director for Africa. Under Dr. Githinji’s leadership, Africa has increased the number of surgeries performed from under 2,000 a year in 2007 to over 10,000 a year in 2012.
Pamela joined Smile Train in 2007 and currently services as Vice President and Regional Director for Smile Train’s programs throughout the Caribbean and Americas. She manages the organization’s relationships with almost 100 local hospitals and foundations across this diverse region, spanning more than 17 countries with active programs.
Mackinnon joined Smile Train in 2010 and serves as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Program Development, after serving as Humanitarian Affairs Officer with the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund—a $450 million pooled humanitarian response mechanism.
